Dear Amelia,
I know young people like you are struggling to keep up with the society nowadays. You have dreams and goals that you've always wanted to achieve. However, things will not always be easy. So be prepared.
Don't be afraid to learn anything. I've left school when I was 14. But it didn't stop me from learning. Even though times were tough as I need to juggle between my work and studies, with courses such as marketing, accounting and programming, I never felt tired as I kept the momentum going. I wanted it so badly. And after many years, I did successfully obtained my Master of Business Administration at Victoria University, Switzerland.
Find yourself a mentor. I've been to numerous motivational talks in my life. It were these talks that've helped me in creating a path for myself. It were these talks that gave me strategies to success. If not for what my marketing guru had taught me, things wouldn't have gone so smoothly for me.
Determine your idols. Read up on journey of successful people that you find relevant. You can learn from their experiences. For me, the idol is Bill Gates.
Search for the right platform. Publish your work in the right place. And approach the right group of people. I personally think that, this is the most important part for start-ups to get noticed.
Lastly, don't be afraid of being different. I have always imagined myself owning more than one store since I started my business. During that time, retail electronic chain-stores are not popular. Therefore, many doubted me. Remember, when people are saying that you're crazy to dream that big, that's when you might be successful.
Yours truly,
